Cincinnati Dahlia Society Meeting

1. Beth Lantz started the meeting by introducing the new officers and board members: Beth Lantz- president, Lisa Striker- Vice President, Mark Neal- Treasurer, Lisa Williamson- Secretary. Board Members Beth Koss and Nan Matteson
2. Beth announced upcoming events and tentative dates.
3. Beth reminded attendees to join our club by going to cincydahlias.org and click on the membership link. So far we have 72 paid members and 25 new members.
4. Beth discussed the philosophy of the club which is to have fun, meet other people who love to grow dahlias.
5. Alex Calvert shared that she will be continuing to create our posts on social media platforms. Beth reminded members that no selling tubers or cuttings on our social media platforms is allowed but trading is encouraged.
6. The challenge dahlia is “Show and Tell.” This dahlia is on sale by our club for $10 per tuber. Deb Rolfes is collecting money for this tuber sale and will have them available for our March 16th meeting.
7. Earth Day Tuber Sale- we are looking for a chairperson for this sale. Alex Calvert volunteered to head this event. We are also looking for volunteers to assist with this tuber sale. This event is at Summit Park on Saturday, April 26th.
8. We will be having a sweatshirt contest. Anyone who would like to create a design can submit their ideas and the club will pick a few designs to add to our website for members to order. More information will be coming by email.
9. Lisa Striker introduced the new Shopify website and all of the new features that our website offers. It will go live soon- maybe a week to 10 days. There will be a member portal (to come) that will allow members to chat.
10. We had a drawing for our new members for two dahlia books.
11. Panel Discussion- Mark Neal, Beth Koss and Lisa Williamson discussed three different ways to wake up tubers. Members could offer other suggestions/ideas and ask questions. Handouts were provided and these will also be uploaded to our website.
